Breathwork
This style of breathwork is an active, somatic meditation that moves you from the swirl of the thinking mind into the wisdom and healing capabilities of the body. We use a specific three-part breath, set to modern music, to activate change on a cellular level.
Laurie says, “The first time I practiced this modality, I was speechless. I floated out of the studio, buzzing with an open heart and calm mind. I was reminded of yet another way I could be my own healer. I felt more connected to my spirit than I had in a long time. And there’s very little you have to actually do — all that is required is your breath and intention. The rest sorts itself out in a way that can only be described as working with spirit, with breath — L. inspiritus, in spirit.”
For thousands of years, healers and medicine men/women have understood that at the heart of all healing is an energetic shift. In modern times, we use bodies of work like quantum physics, neuroscience and research on mindfulness to wrap our heads around this. But at the end of the day, all things are energy in different forms. And in this particular practice, we’re directing breath — life force energy — consciously to elicit physical, mental and emotional healing.
This is an excellent modality for those who have trouble taming their thoughts in traditional meditation formats, those who want to dig into their healing a bit more, and/or those who are on the path of spiritual and personal growth. Laurie is a certified breathwork facilitator and level 2 Reiki.
